City of Atlanta Launches Design Phase for Memorial Drive Greenway with Pond as Lead Design Firm

ATLANTA – Aug. 29, 2025 – Pond & Company (“Pond”), an industry leader in engineering, architecture, planning, and construction management services, has been selected by the City of Atlanta to lead the design of the Memorial Drive Greenway, a transformative linear park that will reimagine nearly half a mile of underutilized public space along Memorial Drive in the heart of the city.
The project marks the official start of design work stemming from the Memorial Drive Greenway Vision Plan developed in 2016. The new greenway will connect Oakland Cemetery to Downtown Atlanta, converting vacant right-of-way into a vibrant, accessible, and sustainable public space.
As the City’s design partner, Pond will guide the project through schematic design of the full corridor and full design, permitting, and construction of one initial block. The firm will collaborate with key stakeholders and the community to develop a design that is rooted in environmental stewardship, equity, and connectivity. Sustainability principles based on the Sustainable SITES Initiative will be integrated throughout the project.
