Pond Selected by GDOT for State Route 140 Improvements

ATLANTA – (Jan. 9, 2025) – Pond & Company (“Pond”), an industry leader in engineering, architecture, planning, and construction management services, has been selected by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to provide engineering design services for State Route (SR) 140 from Rucker Road to Arnold Mill Road in Cherokee and Fulton counties.
This 3.8-mile corridor serves as a major commuter route connecting Canton and Woodstock to Alpharetta, Roswell, and SR 400. The project will widen SR 140 to improve safety, mobility, and traffic flow in one of North Georgia’s fastest-growing areas. The design will incorporate multimodal accommodations, intersection upgrades, and bridge improvements while maintaining the corridor’s unique community character.

The project’s environmental scope includes coordination for federal permitting under Regional Permit 34. Pond’s technical team will lead data collection, concept development, and stakeholder engagement, drawing on recent experience delivering complex GDOT widening projects such as SR 9 in Milton and SR 15 in Washington County.
At 78.6 miles long, SR 140 provides critical access between Canton, Woodstock, and the Atlanta metro area. The corridor supports major commuter and commercial traffic, making its widening essential to improving safety, mobility, and regional connectivity.
