Duke Energy | Mill Creek Stream Restoration - Winston Salem, NC

Pond’s stream restoration team completed design and permitting and is currently constructing this major stream restoration project. The project is located downstream from Winston Salem, NC and drains approximately 21,000 acres. Due to historic landuse and infrastructure development, Mill Creek is actively eroding adjacent areas including Duke’s natural gas transmission ROW, causing bank failure and cover failure to the pipeline. Project scope included over 700 linear feet of natural channel design and construction upstream and downstream of the ROW to stabilize and repair failing banks while increasing the floodplain capacity, sinuosity, and habitat value of the restoration area. Pond obtained all permits including USACE Nationwide Permit 27, NC DEP Permits, local permits and represented Duke to various landowners throughout the project.
