Florida Public Utilities | New Smyrna Beach Lateral Pipeline - New Smyrna Beach, FL

For the New Smyrna Beach Lateral Pipeline project Pond provided engineering design and permitting, environmental evaluation and permitting, and land acquisition assistance as required for FPU’s contractor to construct the project. This project, intended to replace an existing lateral with SMYS and pressure concerns, involves approximately 15.6 miles of 8” and 6” pipeline construction.
Additionally, Pond provided GPS collection during construction to document pipeline construction, and prepare as-built drawings based on the collected information.

Key Elements:
Design of approximately 15.6 miles (83,700 LF) of eight (8) and six (6) inch nominal diameter steel gas pipeline installation from Florida Gas Transmission’s (FGT) Daytona Lateral to FPU’s existing district regulator station in New Smyrna Beach. The pipe has an MAOP of 575 psig.
Acquisition of property for a new gate station near FGT’s Daytona Lateral.
Acquisition of easements and/or temporary workspace as required at planned HDD and crossing sites.
Survey and geotechnical investigation along the entire project corridor.
Right-of-way permitting including US-92, I-4, Tomoka Farms Rd, Pioneer Trail, and Turnbull Bay Road.
Environmental Permitting with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)
Evaluation of the existing cathodic protection system and design of new cathodic protection facilities.
Evaluation of AC interference and design of mitigation.
Collection of GPS data during construction, including weld numbers, joint numbers, heat numbers, and fittings.
Preparation of as-built drawings upon completion of construction.
