Atlanta Regional Commission Livable Centers Initiative Master Plan - Suwanee, GA

Pond and their team of consultants worked with the DeKalb County Transportation Department, the Atlanta Regional Commission and Main Street Tucker Alliance to conduct a study for the downtown Tucker area. The study process was a collaboration of information gathering, analysis and community participation to ensure that the final plan and recommendations were comprehensive and reflected the interests and desires of the entire Tucker community. The study focused on revitalizing downtown Tucker by incorporating high-density development, providing a mix of commercial, office, recreation and housing options, as well as improving mobility on the major corridors.

Utilizing a 6-month community outreach process, a steering committee of key stakeholders, a stakeholder charrette, surveys, design exercises, and an interactive Internet site, the study provided policies and strategies for implementation, responsible parties, funding sources, short- and long-term action items and transportation enhancements.

Central design solutions shown in the above three-dimentional land-use model include more greenspace in the downtown, a variety of housing options and diverse gathering spaces for community-wide events.
