SR 211 Bridge over Ortega River - FDOT District 2

Pond Staff has completed several projects on this 1,143 ft. steel bascule span structure with reinforced concrete approach, which was built over the Ortega River in Jacksonville in 1906. The first project included the inspection of all concrete components and repair recommendations for cracks and spalls. Pond Staff used thermal imaging to locate and quantify the extent of delaminations and provided plans and tabulations of all areas requiring repair. The second follow-on project included scour evaluations: Non-Destructive Testing (Sonic Echo and Parallel Seismic), Geotechnical Evaluation, 3D Bridge Modelling and designing Scour Countermeasures.
