Coker College Classroom Renovation - University of South Carolina

The design team provided a feasibility study to renovate the two large lecture classrooms. The existing layout was in a long and narrow tiered format which placed too many of the students too far away from the presenter. The technology was out dated as well as the tablet arm chairs which did not provide an adequate layout for student who now utilize laptop computers. We developed the two classrooms and the central control room for consideration.

The University selected to proceed with the one classroom and the adjacent control room. The new classroom provides 123 students with new tables and movable chairs in a tiered fashion in an interesting bow front shape which permitted the farthest student to be 5 rows back or a maximum of 30′ to the presenters. All the latest data and technology were incorporated to facilitate with ease any type of media presentations.
