ATLANTA – (02.26.18) The new Lanier Technical College Campus in Hall County, Georgia was recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC Georgia) for engineering excellence.

In the summer of 2015, Pond was selected to design the new $100 million+ Hall County Campus for Lanier Technical College in Gainesville, Georgia. Designed and built in just three short years, the six-building project is the first new collegiate campus in the Technical College System of Georgia in many years.

To complete an entire campus in such a short time frame requires talent, as well as engineering and planning horsepower. The association between Pond, Stevens & Wilkinson, HGOR and Rochester & Associates provided a solid foundation of knowledge, experience and workforce educational design expertise to support the highly integrated workforce development curriculum that accommodates over 50 diverse programs including trade and industry, allied sciences, business technologies, hospitality, education, and economic development.

“We understand the immense importance of Georgia offering a well-trained workforce to meet the employer demands of today and tomorrow, and the Hall campus of Lanier Technical College will prove to be a historic investment in technical education,” said Governor Nathan Deal during the ribbon-cutting ceremony in October 2018.

Key features to this new campus provide industry leading technology for today, but also offer the flexibility to expand, re-tool and adapt to future advances in sciences, and industry. Through the use of collaborative study and social spaces throughout, the campus fosters relationships between students, faculty, and the north central Georgia community. Strategic incorporation of economic and workforce development components also helps foster partnerships with local industry, such as Kubota.

ACEC Georgia President & CEO Michael Sullivan presents the award to Pond’s Senior Vice President Ron Osterloh, Director of Electrical Engineering Joe Stitt, and team members James Schoen, Joe Brejda, Jamie Ledyard and Daniel Milcheck during the 2019 Georgia Engineering Awards on February 23, 2019.

“Our team brought valuable insight through years of designing for technical education, as well as a demonstrated understanding of the college’s needs and priorities,” said Vice President of Architecture Mark Levine.
