The Island Trail - St. Simon's Island, GA
A connection to an existing trail system in St. Simon’s Island, The Island Trail provides a safer and more scenic transportation route to reach the Hampton Point Marina area on the northern edge of the island. Pond developed the conceptual plan and construction documents for the nearly five-mile segment. Eight-foot wide concrete paths were used to connect to the existing trail system to expand the trail system from the center of the island to the Hampton Point Marina area on northern St. Simon’s Island. The multi-use trail allows for a continuation of green space and recreational opportunities to compliment the existing facilities on St. Simon’s Island. By maneuvering around as many existing hardwood and pine trees as possible, the dense canopy of trees and beneficial shade was preserved.
