Falls of Forsyth - Forsyth County, GA
Rockdale County School District engaged Pond to perform a visual inspection and breach classification for the Sheppards Lake Dam. We determined based on the Georgia Safe Dams classification that the dam would need to be reclassified as a high-hazard Category I dam from the breach analysis. Also based on the inspection, it was determined that the dam would need extensive repairs to bring the dam into Georgia Safe Dams compliance. The district wanted to originally incorporate the lake into the new elementary school project for the JH House property.
Pond is currently working with the school district to remove the dam along with restoring the stream-lake bed back to its natural conditions. We are also designing a stormwater management system for the new elementary school project for this property.
