Savannah-Hilton Head Airport (SAV) Air Cargo Campus Development Services
To strengthen Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport’s position as a regional freight hub, the Savannah Airport Commission (SAC) selected Pond to lead planning, programming, and design for a new 36-acre Air Cargo Campus.

Pond’s role began in 2019 with stakeholder-focused planning and preliminary development efforts, helping the airport define project needs, cost parameters, and tenant requirements to support negotiations with carriers and applications to financing entities. This work directly shaped the vision, marketing, and operational feasibility of the site—moving the concept from ambition to actionable capital project. Despite the turbulence of global market conditions during COVID, Pond’s proactive cost management and clear communication with SAC helped keep construction costs in line with expectations.

The resulting campus, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026, features two purpose-built cargo facilities and associated infrastructure:

- Building No. 1 is a 65,000-square-foot dedicated tenant facility that integrates package sorting, administrative offices, aircraft and vehicle operations, and customer service under one roof.
- Building No. 2 is a 61,000-square-foot multi-tenant facility, divided into four bays to serve additional carriers and provide leasing flexibility.
- Landside infrastructure supports efficient access with dedicated employee and truck parking.
- Architectural detailing—brick, stone, and green standing-seam metal roofing—visually aligns the new development with the airport’s established campus style.
- To integrate the new campus with existing operations, Pond also led a traffic impact study along Gulfstream Road, airspace evaluations, and a Line-of-Sight analysis for the Air Traffic Control Tower.

Throughout this project, Pond’s delivery focuses on scalability, tenant responsiveness, and infrastructure resilience—providing the Savannah Airport Commission with a modern cargo platform built to evolve in step with regional growth. The Air Cargo Campus now positions SAV to meet rising freight demands, attract new carriers, and compete more effectively within a rapidly shifting logistics landscape. Pond’s work helped move the vision from blueprint to benchmark—establishing an operational asset that fuels long-term competitiveness and economic mobility across the region.
