Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Clarkston and Newton Campus Beautification and Nursing Program Renovations
In the spring of 2021, Georgia Piedmont Technical College enlisted Pond to provide a comprehensive planning and conceptual design for both their Clarkston and Newton Campuses. Totaling over 460,000 gross square feet, the Pond programming team developed a series of projects for years to come.
With continuing growth in demand for nursing and BSN programs, the school implemented a growth strategy to increase the program by nearly 12,000 square feet to accommodate future growth and expanded enrollment.
By adding two new clinical bed labs with 30 beds and eight new high-fidelity simulation suites, the college is on track to becoming one of the most extensive programs in the Technical College System of Georgia.
In addition to the Nursing program, the design team developed a new conference center. Seating 360 people in its largest configuration, the space can be subdivided into six smaller rooms for additional flexibility. The conference center is serviced by a warming kitchen, serving events of many sizes.
Outside the conference center is a large pre-function area that looks like a landscaped area for student and conference activities. As federal grant recipients, the renovations at the facility also include new spaces for a business incubator lab. The space dedicated to this includes mid-size centers, computer labs, and small meeting rooms for students, industry, and the local community to use.
