George T Bagby State Park Visitor Center & Campground
Pond was selected by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for the partial redevelopment of the George T Bagby State Park Visitor Center & Campground on the shores of Walter F. George Reservoir in Clay County, Georgia.
Key features of the project include the development of a new 35-site RV campground with full sewer, water and electrical hookups with comfort stations and playground, the addition of five new rental cottages, the replacement of five existing cottages, a new linen building, fish cleaning station, off-leash dog park, boat trailer parking, fishing pier, evening program amphitheater, and the establishment of 1.5 miles of lighted walking paths between amenities.
In addition to remaking this park with all new amenities, the existing Lodge motel rooms were demolished, and the lodge building was renovated into a new visitor center and park offices. The renovation restored an exposed-beam tongue-and-groove ceiling and presents views through the visitor center area to the lake below.
The existing pool and tennis area are being renovated to include a landscaped outdoor amenity area with spaces for family recreation for overnight campers and cottage guests. The state has deemed the project valuable to Georgia's rural redevelopment initiatives and has funded $20 million of the redevelopment effort so far.
