Pond completed civil and landscape design for the GlenCastle and Link Grant Park Apartments projects in the City of Atlanta. The GlenCastle project involved the conversion of the historic Atlanta stockade and ancillary buildings into boutique offices and restaurants. Adjacent to GlenCastle, the Link Lake Park Apartments project contributed 242 units of class-A multifamily residences, forming a fully integrated mixed-use development.
The GlenCastle project entailed repurposing historically significant structures in a densely packed urban environment, including the rework of access roads, parking, sidewalks, courtyards, utilities, etc. Compliance with National Park Service standards for Historic Tax Credits added complexity due to the historic nature of the existing buildings.
The Link Lake Park Apartments project comprised a new multifamily building surrounding a parking deck and interior pool courtyard, along with 16 rental townhomes and the extension of an existing city street.
Pond completed all civil and landscape design aspects, including the layout of hardscape, the pool, and amenity structures.
Both projects are situated in the city's Beltline Overlay District, necessitating a coordinated approach to design and permitting among several agencies to prevent delays. Additionally, extensive coordination among project stakeholders was crucial, as the projects involved two separate developers, each with their own architects and contractors.
