Pond’s Employees Light the Night

Approximately every 3 minutes, one person in the US is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. These cancers can be aggressive, as they affect the bone marrow, blood cells, lymph nodes, and other parts of the lymphatic system, hindering the body’s ability to fight infection.

In the 1950s, when the first chemotherapy drugs began to hit the market, Leukemia was reportedly 100% fatal. Over the last two decades however, the long-term survival rate of blood cancers has significantly increased thanks to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research. Since 1949, LLS has invested nearly $1.7 billion in research and provides hope, education, and support to patients and their families.

In support of LLS, its mission to cure cancer, and its goal to improve the quality of life for patients and their families, our company was proud to raise and donate a total of $11,868.

This year, Pond stepped forward in commitment to compassion by uplifting the millions of men, women, and children who have been affected by blood cancer. In addition to raising money for cancer research, we were grateful for the opportunity to participate in the annual Light the Night celebration. This nationwide event brings light to the darkness of cancer through lifesaving research, advocacy, and life-changing support for patients and their families. The research funded by LLS saves lives, provides hope, and pioneers incredible breakthroughs that drive blood cancer cures. Employees from Pond’s Jacksonville, Houston and Columbia offices were some of the one million volunteers who walked to honor and remember friends, loved ones, and all those touched by blood cancers.
