The City of Norcross, Georgia recently awarded a Design/Build contract to Pond Constructors to design and construct the city’s new Pinnacle Park project. Pinnacle Park will be located off Brook Hollow Parkway adjacent to Pinnacle Center Business Park, located at 250 Pinnacle Way, Norcross.

The new park will be built around a small lake, which currently functions as a storm water retention facility. When Pond completes the project, the lake will be a featured amenity for families in the Norcross area to enjoy.

Plans for this project include the demolition of an existing two-story office building, as well as the clearing of downed/damaged trees and overgrown vegetation. Existing trails, dilapidated bridges, and deteriorated sidewalks will be reclaimed.

Numerous recreational and green infrastructures will be added inclusive of the following: a new playground, multiple fitness stations, an octagonal grand pavilion with bathroom and storage, two picnic pavilions, new walking trails, a seawall around a portion of the lake edge, additional parking spaces, and lighting and signage.

One of the most refreshing elements of this project is the commitment of the City of Norcross to observe sustainability practices. This commitment includes the adherence to the guidelines of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Green Communities Program, and a requirement to use goats to do the initial clearing of overgrown vegetation. The ARC Green Communities Program is a voluntary certification program that helps local governments reduce their environmental impact and provides public education on sustainability.

Pond expects to kick the Pinnacle Park project off this month with an expected date of completion in the late Summer/early Fall.
