Pond is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Skinner as a principal of the firm. Managing the Augusta, Ga., office, he serves as Program Manager and Director of Roadway Design, using his skills to grow Pond’s client base in the eastern part of the state.

Skinner began his career with Pond in 1996, while working toward a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Upon his graduation in 1999, he served in a variety of positions, including Senior Project Manager for several road and streetscape transportation design projects throughout the Southeast. Integrating existing roadways into green spaces and parks, seamlessly, is a hallmark of Kevin’s engineering and planning skills.

Working with the City of Augusta, Skinner is currently supervising and designing a Transportation Investment Act (TIA)-funded project that, when complete, will provide the first roundabout in Richmond County. Included in the ambitious project is a three-lane roadway, medians, pedestrian walkways, bike facilities, and, it will widen and relocate 1.5 miles of existing city streets. The project is designed to minimize environmental impacts to adjacent sites, including Augusta’s Westover Cemetery, based on Georgia Environmental Policy Act environmental standards.

He works closely with government agencies such as the Georgia Department of Transportation {GDOT), and maintains a high proficiency level in the latest GDOT roadway design software, and up-to-date knowledge of all current state and national design standards.

“I started with Pond when I was still in school at Georgia Tech, and I’ve stayed with Pond because it’s a fun place to work,” said Skinner.
