Pond is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Susa as a Principal of the firm. Susa, a registered Architect, LEED Accredited Professional, Registered Environmental Manager and Colonel, USAF (Retired), has served as Pond’s National Guard Program Director for the past eight years.

Susa has over 32 years of combined A/E and military experience in design, planning, program development, budgeting and execution of National Guard facilities. In his eight years with Pond, Susa has managed multiple Architect/Engineering contracts for the National Guard Bureau, including the Architect/Engineer contract for horizontal and vertical construction executed through a nationwide Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for both Air and Army installations in addition to 12 state/local IDIQ contracts held by Pond. In total, he has provided program oversight to more than 300 task orders supporting more than $700M in critical National Guard projects across the nation.

During his 24 years of military service in the National Guard prior to Pond, Susa served as Chief of Facilities Planning and Programming for the Air National Guard (ANG), Susa provided budgeting oversight for the ANG’s $1B annual installation support budget for over 175 locations in the 54 states/territories. He directed the development of the current and long-range infrastructure requirements for the ANG’s physical plant valued at over $14B. Additionally, Susa was responsible for the development of programming policy and facility standards for Military Construction (MILCON), facility operations and maintenance, real property acquisitions and disposals and natural infrastructure management activities.

Susa is also a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Planning Association (APA), Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), and the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS), where he serves as a representative of industry on their Corporate Advisory Panel.
