Pond & Company (Pond) is pleased to announce that J. Al Pond, PE, Chief Executive Officer, was awarded the Georgia Engineering Alliance (GEA) Lifetime Achievement Award. For the past 42 years, Mr. Pond has helped shape the built environment through his work as an Engineer and influencing the careers of many engineers.
Mr. Pond has been leading Pond & Company since 1988. Under his leadership, the firm has grown to 250 people across the nation and in two international offices. In 2013, the company was recognized by Engineering News Record as #294 of the Top 500 Design Firms nationwide.
In his career, Mr. Pond has been instrumental in the development of facilities for Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, MARTA, the 1996 Olympics Rowing & Canoeing Venue and numerous Federal and corporate clients nationwide including work with every branch of the Department of Defense.
Mr. Pond currently serves on the Board of Directors for First Landmark Bank. He has served on both the Planning Commission and Board of Appeals for the City of Sandy Springs. He has served in leadership roles for a number of professional organizations, including past president of American Council of Engineering Companies of GA. Mr. Pond has participated in various community activities and has spearheaded fund raising campaigns within Pond & Company during the last 4 years for the Wounded Warrior Project and Operation Homefront, raising over $100,000 to help support our military service members and their families.
GEA’s Lifetime Achievement Award honors engineers who have made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession, the public welfare and/or humankind.
