Ingenuity Winter 2018

Pond Ingenuity Winter 2018 19 A long-range planning effort identified placemaking based changes to the infrastructure and form of Mableton, Georgia. Pond was retained by Cobb County DOT to implement one such transformation, the Walker Drive Extension, which also resulted in the creation of the Mableton Town Square green space. The Pond Transportation and Landscape Architecture studios worked together to develop concepts and the plan that has been implemented for Mableton Town Square. The new acre and a half square is situated across the street from Mableton Elementary and provides a new gathering and social space for the community. Large oak trees were preserved as part of the overall plan and new street trees as part of the Mableton form-based code were planted around the perimeter of the square. The project was completed in February of 2016. Mableton Town Square Cobb County, GA
