Ingenuity-Winter-2017

Pond Ingenuity Winter 2017 9 In addition to the building programs, the outdoor campus will also provide a truck driving training course, burn building (to support the fire sciences program), wireless tower and a simulated electrical substation. LIVE-WORK PROGRAMS A unique feature of this technical college campus are the live-work programs that provide students real-world experience engaging with the public. The college will offer live-work programs in collision repair, cosmetology and esthetics, and dentistry. OVERALL DESIGN PHILOSOPHY Both community partnerships and technology are celebrated throughout the campus via maximization of transparency, showcasing research and development occurring within the many trades laboratories and classrooms. The college’s history in Hall County is also celebrated through the use of exhibits in public space. Key features of the new campus will not only be industry leading technology today, but also the flexibility to expand, re-tool and adapt to what will undoubtedly be incredible advances in sciences, industries and systems well in to the future. From an aesthetic perspective, the project design embraces a North Georgia building vernacular and incorporates an extensive use of Tennessee fieldstone, simulated wood, brick, shed roofs and glass. Careful attention has been paid to assure a cohesive look across the six buildings, while also allowing for individual expression of program. SCHEDULE The design team completed the design development phase in October 2016. Prior to this, an early release site package was completed in Summer 2016, and site preparation and utilities construction are now underway. The design documents will be complete in Winter 2017 with Material Completion slated for Fall 2018. Mark Levine, FAIA, Higher Education Practice Leader
