Pond Ingenuity Fall 2018 17 The primary role of the OSC is to ensure the day-to-day tasks required to implement Pond’s Health and Safety program elements are properly completed and provide related health and safety support to affected Pond employees. Take a look at their day to day responsibilities: „ „ Coordinate the day to day implementation of the corporate health and safety programs with the corporate health and safety director and the office operations manager(s). „ „ Assist in the preparation and review of site-specific Accident Prevention/Health and Safety Plans. „ „ Track required health and safety initial and refresher training. „ „ Authorize occupational medical examinations to include client required drug and alcohol testing and international travel with input from the operations manager and the corporate health and safety director. „ „ Identify a local medical facility to provide to provide both emergency and non- emergency services. „ „ Develop and implement the office specific emergency action plan and document annual employee training. „ „ Stop work activities that represent an imminent hazard to employees. Identify and implement corrective actions to prevent injury or accident. „ „ Assist in the preparation of office specific injury reporting, investigation, and corrective actions. „ „ Ensure security and maintenance of employee health and safety files. „ „ Ensure that the OSHA 300A summary log(s) are posted in a central location and are accessible to all employees from at least February 01 to April 30 annually. „ „ Ensure that monthly office health and safety inspections are documented, completed, and the corrective actions are implemented promptly. „ „ Attend the monthly office health and safety officer coordination conference calls and implement the assigned action items. „ „ Coordinate with the office operations manager and corporate health and safety director to ensure that the office specific new employee orientation, training, and buddy program is properly implemented and documented. „ „ Ensure that the required state and local health and safety posters are displayed in a central location of the office, accessible to all employees. „ „ Develop and post in a central location of the office the evacuation routes, emergency phone numbers, and current 1st aid and CPR providers. „ „ Implement the office specific Hazardous Communication Program, as appropriate. „ „ Inspect and maintain current supplies in the office first aid kit. „ „ Local Management and oversight of the Pond International Travel Medical Immunization Program Employee safety training is a key element to successfully completing a job without experiencing an injury or illness. It is also used as a tool to train our office safety leaders on how to effectively support others to meet injury and illness prevention goals, while meeting and exceeding regulatory and client safety requirements and expectations. Pond hosts an annual face to face OSC Health and Safety Training Summit where assigned roles and responsibilities are dissected and explained in detail to each participant by a senior safety professional. New safety topics are added each year to continually improve and develop the necessary technical skills that further Pond’s health and safety capabilities. It is obvious that Pond’s most valuable resources are the people who work for us; we all are committed to achieving an injury and illness free workplace.
