Highlighter Summer 2015

14 | Pond & Company Vanessa Foster, PLA, ASLA I have been fortunate along my career path to be surrounded by great leaders who have helped me move forward, motivated me, and inspired me. Starting this fall, I am starting a mentorship program at Clemson University where I will be paired up with a landscape architecture student for the fall and spring semesters. I am also writing a column for the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects quarterly newsletter that features a synopsis of their projects, views, and background. LEADERSHIP Andrew White, PLA, ASLA, LEED Green Associate Our group is strongest when collaborating with other disciplines. The best ideas come in those moments when we are all in the same room, freely communicating, with our minds united in common purpose. For example, teamwork was absolutely critical during the Google planning project, in which the Landscape Architecture group partnered with Architecture, Jacksonville, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and NGB groups. COLLABORATION Pedro Torres, PLA, ASLA, LEED Green Associate Landscape architects mix art and science into one sphere of design using creative solutions. We use many different software programs to help clients better understand our designs, and recently we implemented the application of a 3-D software, Lumion, to allow a more complete visualization of our concepts. Creativity and visualization can bridge the gap from a simple, functional design to exceptional and award-winning.
