UF Health Joint Commission Life Safety Review - Jacksonville, FL

Pond provided Architectural Services involving the review of the UF Health’s existing life safety, building and campus plans for our professional opinion on the general conformance with our interpretation of the requirements of the 2000 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code in UF Health Jacksonville’s preparation for the Joint Commission Survey.

During this review we compared the conditions as supplied by the owner to that as they compared to our interpretation of the requirements of the applicable building codes. Items reviewed included smoke compartment locations, sizes, locations, the maximum travel distances from compartment to compartment and from inside compartments to exits, maximum travel distances, suite configurations and appropriateness, dead end corridor lengths/conditions, arrangement of exists, common path of travel distances, indicated wall assembly ratings (smoke partition, smoke barrier, fire partition, fire barrier, smoke/fire barriers).

Pond also compared the indicated occupancy type and construction type to the observed conditions; both on the drawings and in limited field observations including the locations and consistency of the total fire rated wall assemblies for the designated locations based on our interpretation/opinion of the codes in addition to limited field observations. Representatives from Pond also performed limited field observations of the existing door assemblies, UL ratings and hardware configurations in relation to the conditions as noted on the drawings and during the review.
