Sorinex - Columbia, South Carolina

Sorinex selected Pond to design a new administrative/sales area in their existing 80,000-SF facility. Internationally recognized for their “bomb-proof” strength training equipment, the industrial-style Sorinex equipment has a reputation as innovative, durable and top of the line. Sorinex leadership sought to reflect their brand and reputation in their headquarters design, through the incorporation of industrial style elements.

Pond’s design accomplished this goal using polished block, clear anodized corrugated metal panels, exposed steel, and a continuous glass curtain wall. The design employed large building elements such as a new steel entry tower, perforated cambered sails and accent lighting, transforming a plain, pre-engineered building into an international headquarters projecting a strong visual identity from the adjacent highway.

The renovation converted the first 3-½ bays of the existing building into a new showroom and exhibit gallery, serving the dual purpose of marketing Sorinex products and celebrating the evolution of the strength training industry. The space includes a mixture of private offices and open concept work areas that make up a cohesive administrative department. Incorporation of a new mezzanine created expansion areas for a growing marketing department.
