Simulator Facility for AvFID - Hurlburt Field AFB, FL
Pond provided the Design/Bid/Build documents for the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Simulator Facility for Aviation Foreign Internal Defense (AvFID) at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The facility was planned and designed to house a simulator bay, computer rooms, service rooms, break area, classrooms and a fuselage training space.
Supporting facilities include domestic water, sanitary sewer and lift station, fire protection water, electrical service and communication lines and storm drainage. Paved access to the facility was provided, including a concrete apron for fuselage access and training. Additional parking and fitting for the facility to be handicap accessible were added. The facility adheres to the appropriate Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) setbacks and incorporates AT/FP design requirements into the building.
The site improvements will include a new privately owned vehicle (POV) parking lot constructed of a pervious concrete pavement.
