Security System Assessment and Replacement Design - Huntsville Int'l Airport, AL

Pond was selected by the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority (HMCAA) to perform a Threat and Vulnerability Assessment (TVA) for the Huntsville International Airport. The TVA studied numerous aspects of the Airport’s security systems. Starting with the Security Command Center and looked at CCTV systems, Airport access, operations, infrastructure, etc. The results of the TVA were compiled into a report including identification of areas of concern and developed a prioritization of items in conjunction with Airport Operations and Security.

After review of the TVA Report, Pond worked with the Airport Facilities staff to implement 10 of the items listed in the report. The Airport was proposing to fund these projects using a combination of FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and Passenger Facility Charges (PFCs). Pond worked to provide breakouts of construction costs in a classification listing to show eligible and ineligible categories of funding. The Airport used this information to solicit both types of funding. Pond assisted the Airport during the bid process by issuing document packages, tracking bidders, managing bidder questions, and leading the pre-bid conference and bidder project walk-throughs. Pond managed the bid submittal, performed a bid evaluation and made a technical recommendation for the Airport related to an award.
Pond will be overseeing the construction for the Airport.
