Science Building Phase One - Christopher Newport University

The Science building at Christopher Newport University is a three story, 95,400 sf science laboratory facility with classrooms, labs, auditorium and offices and the entire attic space serving as the mechanical room. This facility is phase one of a two phase science building plan at Christopher Newport University. The commissioning process was provided in accordance with the LEED points system for Fundamental commissioning services and sustainable design.

System and equipment commissioning was provided for the following:

  • Heating, Ventilating and Cooling systems including a central chiller plant with three chillers and associated cooling towers and controls, boilers, air handling units, energy recovery wheels, laboratory exhaust fans, critical spaces laboratory supply and exhaust air valves, fume hoods, pumps, split-systems, heat exchangers and the Building Automation System, (BAS).
  • Domestic water heating systems, (heat-exchangers and circulating pumps) and domestic water booster pump system.
  • Lighting and day-lighting controls.
