Rocky Flats Stream Connectivity Project, Cohutta Wilderness - Chatsworth, GA
Pond’s water resources team completed a design that included an arch-span culvert to restore stream connectivity and replace failing perched culverts. The Pond design incorporated elements to improve aquatic species connectivity to the upper reaches of Mill Creek in the Cohutta Wilderness. The project included several major drivers, including use of a key forest road above the culverts by the US Forest Service and reconnecting Mill Creek, a near pristine stream system in an undeveloped watershed. Once installed, the arch span will allow for migration of fish and other organisms while allowing for a stable crossing of Mill Creek that protects water quality and creating a safe and resilient crossing.
