Perimeter Center West Improvements - Atlanta, GA
Pond provided design for improvements to intersections including the addition of turning lanes at all intersections under an on-call contract with the Perimeter Center Community Improvement Districts (PCCID). The project also included over one mile of 8’-10’ sidewalks, curbs and gutters, a planted median, and bicycle lanes from Ashford-Dunwoody Road to Mt. Vernon Road at Perimeter Mall.
This federally-funded project included Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) approval and complex stakeholder coordination due to the fact the project included property in Fulton and DeKalb Counties. Adjoining parcels included Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) and existing filled/vacant commercial properties. One of the goals of the project was to add turning lanes into commercial developments at intersections to maintain free flow along Perimeter Center West around Perimeter Mall.
Key elements of this project included:
- Seven major intersections.
- 160+ Drawings.
- Minimizing impact to property owners to allow for donation of all Right-of-Way easement.
- Signature streetscape project for Perimeter Center.
- Phasing for high traffic volume.
