Air Route Traffic Control Center Arc Flash Studies - Oakland, CA

Arc Flash studies at the Oakland air traffic control center consisted of two separate reports, the air traffic control center and a separate office park located on site.

There are 1,016 points of interest within the Air Traffic Control Center model. The data collection site visit took two weeks to complete with two collections being done during the night shift.  The site had dual utility feeds, two sets of paralleling generators, and five different UPS devices connected such that if created 16 different scenarios with which power could be delivered to individual panels. Due to the nature of the facility, all data collection was done with live panels requiring Pond to utilize their Arc Flash rated suits to complete the task. The Office park area consisted of 22 points of interest with no additional redundancy, reducing this particular site to one scenario.
