North Indian Creek-Memorial College Ave Intersection Improvements - Clarkston, GA
Pond provided design services for improvements to include relocating the two major intersecting streets to one intersection point along North Indian Creek Road. The project improved the safety and operational characteristics of the five-lane North Indian Creek Road. The intersection is adjacent to four different schools. Vehicular and pedestrian safety, minimizing right-of-way (ROW) impacts and construction cost were major factors associated with the design. The design scope coveed conceptual design through final design and included elements of roadway, ROW, traffic signal, utility relocation and hydraulic design.
The intersection improvement was the first project in a series of improvements proposed to enhance traffic flow at and around the Perimeter College Campus.
Key elements of this project included:
- Widening of 5500’ Corridor including two major intersections.
- Design provides for access traffic needs of four schools.
- Evaluation of three-lane and five-lane section.
