Mayo Clinic MRI 3T Equipment Upgrades and Renovations - Jacksonville, FL

This project consisted of renovating a portion of the existing MRI imaging suite within the 2.3 million sf Acute Care Mayo Clinic Hospital. The project included upgrading the MRI equipment, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, associated structural supports and reinforcements, as well as reconfiguring the acoustic and RF/Magnetic Shielding assemblies to accommodate the new 3T MRI equipment requirements while being respectful to the adjacent to acoustically sensitive space. The project was undertaken in an active (24/7) Acute care hospital setting with special attention to interim life safety measures (ILSM) and Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) procedures and protocol. Careful consideration was required in the planning of the design to not only accommodate the functional program and equipment reequipments but also the delivery and installation of such massive equipment on an upper floor, in the heart of an existing active healing environment.
