Sprint Local Telephone Division Generator, UPS, & Electrical Upgrade - Bristol, TN
Pond provided electrical upgrades to a three building complex of 91,700 square feet that serves as a Local Telephone Exchange Central Office, two Data Centers and office space. This project required installing a new 1500 KW generator to support the entire complex to replace a generator that only served one of the buildings. All of the Mission Critical Data Center loads in the three buildings were consolidated into a 150 KVA parallel-redundant UPS system employing three static switches. The needs of multiple end users were met and all UPS “cut-covers” were accomplished “hot” utilizing Methods of Procedure (MOPs) to describe critical construction procedures. A new single 480/277V electrical service was installed to replace two existing 208/120V services. All of the existing electrical distribution was surveyed and replaced with new feeders and older or obsolete panels were upgraded.
