Intercity Bus Terminal (Greyhound Lines) - Jacksonville, FL

The Intercity Bus Terminal (IBT) is a new passenger facility for Greyhound Bus Lines in Jacksonville, Florida. The project relocated the existing Greyhound Bus Terminal and operations in downtown Jacksonville to a new site that is removed from the urban core but still within the downtown business district. This move significantly enhances Greyhound’s highway access and allows Greyhound to be part of the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center (JRTC). The JRTC is a multimodal transit hub for Jacksonville which provides direct connection between Greyhound and Mega Bus to Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s (JTA) central transfer station, which is also being relocated from a downtown urban core site. In addition to the local and intercity bus routes, the JRTC ties into the existing elevated Skyway Automated People Mover, and will provide access for taxi services, ride share, bike shares, and rental cars. Additionally, this connectivity provides for a future phase to connect to Amtrak.

The 9,100 sf IBT will provide Greyhound passenger services, driver amenities, and food service. In addition, this project included the design and construction of a pedestrian bridge that will connect the IBT to the JTA’s central bus transfer station, administration building, and the existing light rail Skyway Convention Center Station, all of which are part the master plan to develop a multimodal transit center within the downtown business district. These facilities will be linked to the main maintenance and operations facility at Myrtle Station, which is located approximately one mile to the north. The project required that the existing utility and telecommunications infrastructure be designed to extend from Myrtle Station along a major artery to the downtown business district, so all of the facilities were linked to the new JTA administration building.
