Henry Koen Federal Building Rehabilitation - Russellville, AR

Pond prepared the landscape architecture, civil site design, and electrical design for the historic Henry Koen Federal Building in Russellville, AR. This project encompassed a major renovation of the electrical systems in the building, including replacement of most of the lighting, communications wiring, and installation of new receptacles. Most of the existing lights in the building were removed, areas were relighted with new lighting fixtures, and new LED exit lighting was added. The existing horizontal and cabling for data and telephone wiring was removed and replaced with modern Category 6 cable. A new Telecom Room was established in the basement.

In addition to the electrical upgrades, Pond provided civil site design and landscape architecture services. Those services included providing a nine-space addition to the existing parking lot, re-striping the existing surface lot to maximize parking, and preserve the existing trees. The two existing parking lot entrances were rehabilitated. All invasive plant species were removed and replaced with adaptive, non-invasive, drought tolerant plantings. Finally, a design was prepared to rehabilitate the off-site Supervisor’s Office Warehouse parking.
