Greenside Type II Maintenance Hangar - Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA

The new Greenside Type II Maintenance Hangar will be an approximately 60,000 sf facility that will be built adjacent to the Greenside Type I Maintenance Hangar for the U.S. Marine Corps Air Facility at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The Greenside Type II Hangar will function along with the 56,000 sf Greenside Type I Hangar and the 180,000 sf Whiteside Hangar to support the HMX-1, which is the helicopter transport squadron for the President of the United States.

The Greenside Type II Hangar will provide required maintenance space for support of projected loading of CH-53 helicopters and future MV-22 aircraft. The new 60,000 sf facility will include one module of standard Type II hangar space with adjacent multi-story support spaces, including maintenance and shop areas, tool rooms, storage areas, medical/dental facilities, and office/administrative areas.

An exposed exo-skeleton superstructure will function to create a cantilevered roof structure, thus allowing for a column-free hangar bay. The building exterior will consist of a brick veneer exterior with cast stone accents and a prominent cornice and parapet.
