Campus Safety Facility, Georgia Institute of Technology - Atlanta, GA

The project represents a new $10.5 million, 30,000-square-foot state of the art law enforcement headquarters for the Georgia Institute of Technology Police Department. This new Campus Safety Facility is the gateway and anchor to the northwest edge of the urban campus. It consolidates space from five different obsolete buildings across campus. Bringing these units together into a single facility now allows more effective public safety for patrolling the campus, enhances communications and collaborate internally and with the campus student body with the ultimate mission to maintain a safe and secure urban campus environment in downtown Atlanta. The new facility monitors over 1,700 security cameras, duress stations in its Communication Center. The facility incorporates the student programs into its operation by having student video technicians working with trained dispatchers and sponsoring student research space related to public safety and law enforcement.

The site design includes consideration for the future Atlanta Streetcar Corridor on 10th Street. Parking is provided for the campus body and visitors. The police have a secured access parking area as well as an underground special vehicle and storage for patrol bikes, motorcycles and Segway’s.
