Georgia Power HQ - Valdosta, GA

Pond provided the Valdosta Strategic Occupancy and Campus Master Planning Study at Georgia Power Company’s South Region Headquarters in Valdosta, GA. The Pond team provided full architectural and engineering assessment services, full programming, cost estimating, renderings, site development concepts, and building modeling.  Pond provided an investigative study to determine long term (5-10 year) facility needs, evaluate current conditions of existing facilities, and determine feasibility for the potential relocation of some or all of the business functions to an alternate campus in the Valdosta area. To better understand the unique challenges faced by the users, the team engaged various personnel through meetings and interviews. The study revealed needs for efficient work space for storm command functions, community conference space, training space, warehousing, laydown yard, lineman truck docks, vehicle maintenance and fueling areas. Due to frequent train crossings in the area, Pond also performed a traffic study to determine the interference they caused with dispatch times to field trouble calls. Using these findings, the team developed a strategic occupancy plan used to test fit a remain-in-place scenario, as well as two options for site arrangements in a possible new location. This gave the client the ability to evaluate the pros and cons of staying at their existing campus versus moving to a new site.
