Elijah Clark State Park Master Plan - Lincolnton, GA
The Georgia DNR retained Pond to develop a master plan and facility assessment for the entire park property to analyze the present condition of Elijah Clark State Park and develop a 10-year plan to help the park meet the objectives of the Direction 2015 Business Plan.
This General Development Plan is intended to guide the development of Elijah Clark State Park over the next decade. It includes recommendations for improving existing facilities, and it suggests locations for new facilities. The planning team assessed and made recommendations for Campgrounds 1 and 2, the day-use portion of the park, and a 4th yet to be developed area of the park, which is recommended to remain in conservation rather than further developed into active park use. New elements include improved parking, replacement of primitive camp sites with Yurt Camping, new group shelters, and better facilities for fishing tournaments and lake access for boats.
In addition to the Master Plan and Facility Assessment for the park, Pond was retained to develop construction documents for the renovation of 25 RV camping spaces in Campground No.1 as well as the replacement of the Comfort Station (restroom and showers) in Campground No. 2. Waterfront RV camping is popular at this facility, and therefore sites are being upgraded to accommodate the larger RVs on the road today. Longer, wider parking pads, with new utility hook-ups and improved electrical service (100 Amps) is being provided at up to 25 sites in Campground No. 1. Pond facilitated the design and permitting of the project as well as provided Construction Administration services.
