Dunns Creek State Park Boat Launch - Crescent City, FL
Pond was awarded a contract with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for significant improvements and modifications at Dunns Creek State Park (Piney Bluff Landing Day Use Area). This area which lies on the east side of the park provides a nearly 360 degree scenic view of a bend in Dunns Creek, but existing amenities were sparse.
As part of planned improvements for the area frequently used by boaters and fishermen, Pond provided site planning, civil engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture services for a stabilized parking area, vaulted restroom facility, kayak/ canoe launch, and fishing platform. The site was designed to have minimal impact to surrounding trees and natural riparian features. Additional future improvements planned for the area include a boat docking and water taxi area with coordination from the City of Palatka. Design and planning was executed with these future improvements in mind.
