Civil Engineering (CE) Complex - Charleston Air Force Base, SC

Pond produced a comprehensive Design-Build Request For Proposal (RFP) for the consolidation of the 628th Civil Engineer (CE) Administration/Flights into a Base Civil Engineering (BCE) complex at Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, South Carolina. The RFP delineates a project which includes 47,500 total square feet of new construction plus demolition of outdated facilities on the existing civil engineering campus. Services provided for the RFP include architecture, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil and landscape design; Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) capabilities and building interior and furnishings designs.

New construction of the complex will include a 29,400 square foot CE Administration Building and a 18,175 square foot Readiness Center. The CE Administration Building provides a two-story signature building which will accommodate the Flights of the CE Administration. The building includes open office and administrative areas, vertical circulation and conference rooms. The Readiness Center is comprised of a single-story building containing offices for the Emergency Operations Command and an attached warehouse. The building will include an adjacent secure open storage area. The project is designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification.

The scope of this project included the preparation of a narrated 3-dimensional video animation for purposes of communicating the project intent to Senior Air Force leadership.
