City of Roswell Comprehensive Plan - Roswell, GA

Pond assisted the City of Roswell with the preparation of “Imagine Roswell 2030,” the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan integrated prior planning efforts the City has undertaken and moved goals and policies forward in a phased approach for the long range. Pond prepared the documents comprising the plan: the Community Participation Plan, Community Assessment and Community Agenda.

The Community Assessment document included a photo-documented update to the historic preservation inventory and an executive summary that served as an invitation to vision-based planning. Focusing on the need for a competitive edge in the North Fulton region, the planning process message focused on achieving economic growth and investment. A three-day Charrette and a follow-up work shop, with nearly 150 people in attendance, helped the community reconcile competing priorities for a controversial, but strategic node. With the support of the Mayor and the Council, this plan provides a user-friendly, practical document that establishes the foundation for modernizing the zoning ordinance and integrating transportation planning with future land development, based on design principles.

The public involvement process included: video-style animated presentations, a “kids corner” to ease attendance by parents, a “meeting-in-a-box” tool kit, a speakers-series for the stakeholder committee, in addition to traditional informational packets, web content and interactive community meetings with mapping exercises.
