Cabbagetown Park - Atlanta, GA
Pond was retained by the Cabbagetown Initiative Community Development Corporation to facilitate the master plan development, provide construction documents, and to oversee the construction of this City of Atlanta park.
The outcome is a prime example of a successful public-private partnership for the development of public space. The community was actively involved in the entire design process. Their goal was to create a park that would be environmentally sensitive, aesthetically pleasing, and would last for generations to come. Selected materials played an important role in meeting their design goals, as well as complementing the historic neighborhood. Georgia granite was used to construct the seat walls and retaining walls throughout the park. The light fixtures chosen are architecturally appropriate to the historic mill town character of the neighborhood.
