Bridge Replacement & Intersection Safety Improvements - Roswell, GA
Pond provided full design services to realign Grimes Bridge Road and Oxbo Road to form a new T-intersection onto the new bridge section. The new signalized intersection on the bridge includes sidewalks and pedestrian crossings in all approaches as well as accommodation for a future trail system beneath the bridge.
Context sensitive architectural enhancements were added due to the proximity of the bridge to the 300 acre Vickery Creek Unit of the National Park Service, part of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. All construction drawings and specifications were approved by and developed to plan requirements of Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
Key elements of this project included:
- Bridge replacement.
- T-intersection within bridge to minimize neighborhood impact.
- Developed alternatives to minimize impact to 4F land.
- Unique bridge design including decorative parapets, lighting and signalized intersection on bridge.
