Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) | Northeast Georgia Expansion (NGX) 24″ Transmission Line - Marietta, GA
This project consists of approximately 10-miles of 24” steel transmission pipeline with a planned MAOP of 1200-psig. Pond provided engineering design, survey, SUE, cathodic protection design, environmental services and land acquisition services as well as construction administration and support services. This project included two mainline valve stations with remote monitoring and wireless communication, the demolition and tie-in to existing facilities as well as multiple directional drill designs. In addition to engineering and AC Mitigation design in-house, Pond managed subcontractors including topographic and SUE survey, environmental services, land acquisition, geotechnical analysis, landscaping repair estimates and analysis and septic system evaluation.
KEY ELEMENTS:
This project involves coordination with existing high pressure lines to address tie-ins and protection of existing systems during construction. Numerous installation methods were evaluated throughout the project to determine the one best suited for each roadway, stream or wetland crossing within the narrow construction corridor.
Installation of approximately 10 miles of 24” diameter high pressure pipeline.
This project passes through a heavily developed area with significant landowner, utility and constructability challenges driving multiple unexpected design changes through the design cycle of the project.
