Army Reserve Center - Greensboro, NC
The Greensboro Army Reserve Center contains a 2-story Training Center Building (77,740 sf), an Organizational Maintenance Shop (3,858 sf), an Unheated Storage Building (3,949 sf), a 2-bay Washrack, MEP lot, DEPMEDS lot, and a privately owned vehicle (POV) lot. The Pond team won this competitive Design-Build project by successfully developing the advertised design-build RFP into a functional, cost effective, high quality facility.
In order to best protect and preserve the environment, the facility and site design incorporated many sustainable design techniques while staying within the established budget. The project was designed to achieve a LEED® Silver Certification.
The combination of an energy efficient envelope and high-efficiency HVAC systems result in a highly efficient facility. The LEED® Energy Cost Savings calculated is 36.4%. Additionally, design requirements were to provide an energy consumption savings minus receptacle and process loads (EPAct 2005) of 40% over a baseline building. Calculations indicate a 45% improvement over baseline.
