Aircraft Fuel Facility Expansion - McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas, NV

Pond provided design and construction administration services for East Side Tank Farm Expansion. The design package provided additional fuel storage and distribution capability in order to support LAS through 2030. The scope included demolition of several existing fuel storage tanks and construction of one 65,000 BBL and three 100K BBL capacity tanks within the same footprint, as well as, providing a new pumping system. Project deliverables included detailed cost estimate which was the basis for bid evaluations. Median bids received on Phase I were within 2% of the engineering cost estimate.

The project scope included development of detailed construction phasing plans to allow the airport fueling systems to operate without interruption during the entire construction period. The design effort included upgrades to the facility to satisfy the latest environmental and fire protection codes and regulations. Pond provided full-time on-site resident engineering during the construction process to ensure the contractor adhered to all project plans and specifications; performed quality assurance; and documented field changes or modifications.

The project kick-off included a week-long design charrette to identify space saving options over the concepts presented in the RFP which significantly decreased the project footprint and ultimately LASFUEL leasehold, saving the airlines money.

Pond also provided design and construction management services at the McCarran Westside Fuel Facility. The project scope included design and construction to convert an existing 30,000 gal tank, piping, pumps, and loading position from AVGAS to diesel service, demolition of existing 30,000 gal gasoline tank and 15,000 gal waste fuel tank, Installation of new 30,000 gal dual compartment tank for AVGAS and waste fuel, addition of emergency vents and P/V vents to existing tanks including addition of new tank nozzles, addition of new AVGAS piping, valves and off loading connection, modification and tie-in of vapor recovery piping and drain piping, expansion of existing tank catwalk and access stairs.
