Advanced Manufacturing & Skilled Crafts Center - Midlands Technical College

Midlands Technical College’s intent was to repurpose this Support Center into a 37,288-square-foot academic building supporting credit and continuing education programs for the construction and industrial electrical and mechanical programs. Designers collaborated with department representatives and other stakeholders to identify programmatic needs and develop a responsive design. The program includes interior reconfiguration, classrooms incorporated at the building’s mezzanine level, envelope alterations to change the appearance and introduce interior daylighting, and a canopied, exterior instruction area. The interiors department elevated the student amenities areas to meet today’s trend for enhanced lounge areas that can provide multi-purpose use for all students. The space also offers flexible classroom layouts and durable finishes throughout the building.
