Modified Record Fire Range - Fort Gordon, GA

Pond provided comprehensive A/E services for the complete renovation of the Modified Record Fire Range (MRFR) under a Design/Build contract.

The project involved survey of existing MRFR buildings and surrounding site, upgrade of existing facilities to meet the current Huntsville Design Guide for Ranges, converting the existing 10-lane firing range to a 19-lane firing range, renovation to two existing buildings, and construction of three new buildings.

The program for the renovation included upgrading an existing range control tower to meet standard requirements. Working with the existing space, the project team ensured all required elements fit within the space. The HVAC system was upgraded from a wall mounted system to a ceiling mounted system, allowing for a more efficient system. The range itself is wedged between two other ranges so the range limit markers and other safety devices required modification to fit on the range while keeping the range within safety tolerances.
